200 Senior Games

25 Aug 2017 by Julia Wake

This Sunday we travel to Birdwood to play in the Elimination Final, if we lose, that’s the end of 2017. That should be incentive enough to ensure we walk away winners on Sunday, but if any of the players need more incentive, senior coach, Brett " Beefy" James will play his 200th A grade game for Kersbrook. If Beefy isn’t the most decorated player to ever play in the HFL, i’d like to know who is. 118 AFL games, including 2 Premiership medals with Adelaide, 234 games at Norwood, with 1 Premiership medal, 5 years Captain at Norwood, 3 Best & Fairest, 5 State games , 2 as captain. Life Member at Norwood and a member of both the Norwood and SANFL Hall of Fame. Beefy is in his 11th year as coach of our club, during that time the A/s have won 4 premierships, and that success has come about because of Beefy, especially through the enormous amount of hard work he has done to ensure we remain a strong, successful club that players want to be a part of. Last Saturday against Nairrne, Beefy’s opponent was half his age, most of them are, but at 44 years old he still made his opponent look silly, kicking 5 goals and being amoung our best, not bad for a " middle aged bloke". Congratulations Beefy well done mate.
